Karkidakam, the sacred Ramayana month, begins on July 17 this year. According to a widely shared video, removing 12 specific items from your home before the first day is crucial to invite the goddess Mahalakshmi and keep away Moo Devi, the goddess of misfortune.
The items include dried tulsi plants, leaking prayer lamps, broken brooms, cluttered wealth storage areas, non-working clocks and old calendars, dead trees visible from the front door, cobwebs in the southwest corner, broken or single shoes (especially of deceased persons), dried prasadam kept beyond three days, damaged idols, stale food, and dirty main doors.
Each item is believed to block positive energy. For example, a leaking lamp is said to cause financial drain, and a broken broom is considered a seat of Moo Devi. The video advises discarding or repairing these items before July 17 to ensure divine blessings.
The message emphasizes that during Karkidakam, when spiritual energies are high, cleanliness and order are paramount. By removing these inauspicious objects, families can invite health, wealth, and happiness throughout the month.
