Natural Ways to Repel Mosquitoes Flies and Cockroaches During Rainy Season

The monsoon season often brings a significant increase in household pests like mosquitoes, flies, and cockroaches, causing discomfort and health concerns in many homes. To combat this issue without relying on chemical-laden coils or vaporizers, simple and natural home remedies using common kitchen ingredients can be highly effective and safe for families with young children.

One effective method involves making a natural herbal fumigant. Fresh mint leaves and Panikoorka (Indian borage) leaves are ground into a smooth paste and spread onto a tissue paper. A generous amount of powdered cloves and cinnamon is then sprinkled over the paste. After folding the tissue, it is dried in the sun for about 10 to 15 minutes so that it retains just enough moisture to smolder. When lit, this preparation releases a fragrant smoke that naturally drives away mosquitoes and flies.

Another powerful variation uses a tissue paper coated with vaporub, sprinkled with clove and cinnamon powder, the herbal paste, and a pinch of baking soda. When lit and extinguished to produce thick smoke, this combination releases a strong aroma that pests cannot tolerate. Additionally, simply crushing Panikoorka, Tulsi, or mint leaves by hand and placing them near windows can significantly reduce the entry of flies into the house.
