A brutal attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee in West Bengal has triggered widespread outrage and forged a strong wave of unity among opposition parties against the BJP. The incident occurred while Banerjee was visiting post-election violence-affected areas, leaving him severely injured. TMC leadership and Mamata Banerjee have alleged a deep-rooted political conspiracy by the BJP behind this life-threatening attack.

Prominent leaders of the INDIA alliance have strongly condemned the violence, coming together to protest against what they call the BJP’s “double-engine” government’s fascist policies. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the local security arrangements and termed the attack a deliberate attempt to destroy democracy. Similarly, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of spreading hatred and utilizing “goonda politics” to suppress opposition voices.
