Beena Antony Returns to Cinema with Balan as Chidambaram and Ganapathi’s Mother

Popular Malayalam television actress Beena Antony is making a grand return to the silver screen with the upcoming movie Balan. In this film, she will portray the mother of characters played by Chidambaram and Ganapathi. This significant big-screen opportunity came to her following the conclusion of her long-running television serial Mounaragam.

Beena Antony has been a household name in Kerala, primarily known for her powerful negative roles on the mini-screen. For nearly five to six years, she captivated audiences as the antagonist in the hit serial Mounaragam. While she has appeared in minor film roles in the past, a major big-screen breakthrough remained a long-cherished dream, following the footsteps of other successful television actors like Miya George and Swasika who transitioned into mainstream cinema.

The actress also addressed common criticisms faced by Malayalam serials regarding heavy makeup and luxury costumes during emotional or sleeping scenes. Beena Antony and fellow actor Sangeetha Sivan noted that such styling depends entirely on the character’s background and current trends, drawing comparisons to high-budget Hindi serials. They emphasized that a large section of the audience actually enjoys seeing these elaborate costumes and jewelry on screen.
