The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Veena Vijayan, daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in connection with a money laundering case. Dramatic scenes unfolded as ED officials conducted a raid at her residence in Thiruvananthapuram, leading to a confrontation with CPM workers.
During the raid, a mob attacked ED officials, resulting in injuries and damage to vehicles. Police have arrested 11 suspects, including CPM local committee secretary IP Binu and former councilor Dinakar, who surrendered at the police station. The accused face charges of attempted murder, obstruction of official duty, and destruction of public property.
The ED’s action stems from an SFIO report alleging that Veena Vijayan and her company, Exalogic Solutions, received ₹2.78 crore from CMRL between 2016 and 2021. The CPM has condemned the arrest as political vendetta, with party leaders staging protests in Delhi and Kerala.
