The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on Tuesday at the residences of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram, as well as at the home of his son-in-law Riyaz in Kozhikode, in connection with the CMRL (Coimbatore Metro Rail Limited) case. The searches began around 8:30 AM and concluded by 2:00 PM.
According to the search document released by the ED, the operation covered two buildings and a servant quarters. Notably, the document states that no incriminating materials were found during the raid. The ED also recorded the statement of an individual named Nanu.
The raids come shortly after the Kerala High Court allowed the case to proceed. Political analysts suggest that the timing of the raid may help Vijayan counter internal dissent within the CPI(M) following the party’s poor performance in the 2026 elections, where it won only 24 seats. The lack of any seizure could be used by Vijayan to project an image of integrity, both within the party and before the public.
