Former DGP A Hemachandra is set to be appointed as the Police Advisor to Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. The appointment order is expected to be issued soon. Hemachandra, a 1986 batch IPS officer, retired in May 2020 as the chief of Fire Force and Rescue Department.

Hemachandra is best known for leading the SIT that investigated the controversial Solar scam case in Kerala. His appointment comes at a time when the Home Minister is focusing on policing reforms and addressing alleged political interference within the police force.
