In a major setback for the newly formed Congress government in Karnataka, Water Resources Minister Ramalinga Reddy has announced his resignation. The senior leader took the dramatic step after being denied the Bengaluru City Development portfolio, which he claims was promised to him directly by DK Shivakumar.
Reddy, a six-time minister who previously served in the Veerappa Moily cabinet, expressed his disappointment at a press conference, stating he felt insulted by the portfolio allocation. He clarified that he did not demand a cabinet post but was offered the Bengaluru City Development portfolio twice before DK Shivakumar and his brother took office. Despite resigning from his ministerial post, Reddy emphasized that he will not leave the party and will continue to serve as a Congress MLA and active worker.
