Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday strongly rebuked the media for their persistent questioning over the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids conducted at the residence of his former principal secretary and others. He accused some journalists of physically pushing a microphone into his face and demanded the right to decide when to respond to questions.
Vijayan clarified that the ED had not informed the state government or police about the raids, and that the central agency had deployed central forces without prior coordination. He praised Home Minister for deploying police to prevent a law and order situation, noting that the police acted wisely to de-escalate tensions.
The CM also addressed allegations of political funding, stating that all political parties in Kerala receive funds from industrialists, and that the ED case pertains to money laundering, not routine political donations. He asserted that the state government has no authority to dictate how central agencies conduct investigations, and that legal remedies are available if procedures are violated.
