Kerala minister KM Shaji has made a powerful statement against superstition by choosing vehicle registration number 13 for his official car, a number that many people avoid considering it unlucky.
When the minister learned that the number 13 was lying unclaimed while other registration numbers were being distributed among ministers, he immediately decided to take it without any hesitation. He questioned why people assign so much importance to numbers while ignoring the real problems faced by society.
The vehicle’s registration number turned out to be 8311, and interestingly, the digits add up to 8+3+1+1 = 13, adding another layer of coincidence to the story.
KM Shaji recalled his own difficult experiences, including losing an assembly election and facing raids by central investigating agencies at his home. He pointed out that the number 13 was never with him during those challenging times, proving that misfortunes are caused by life circumstances, not by numbers.
The minister emphasized that superstitions and baseless fears should have no place in society, especially among public representatives. He called for a rational approach where leaders focus on people’s real struggles instead of numerology and blind beliefs.
His decision to publicly use the number 13 on his official vehicle sends a strong message that progress and rationality must prevail over age-old superstitions. Rather than merely speaking about scientific temper, KM Shaji has demonstrated it through his actions.
