In the early hours of May 12, 2026, at 3:23 AM, a thief attempted to steal a mobile phone from a sleeping security guard at a prominent jewellery in Kottakkal, Malappuram district. The entire incident was captured on the establishment’s online security system.
CCTV footage shows the thief carefully observing his surroundings before approaching. Seeing that no one was around and the security guard was fast asleep, he checked all four directions to confirm nobody was coming. Once assured, he quickly grabbed the phone. However, the moment he took it, the jewellery’s online security alarm system was triggered. Caught off guard by the sudden alarm, the thief immediately turned around and returned the phone to the sleeping guard, who had woken up by then.
