A 19-year-old woman gave birth in a hospital restroom and then threw the newborn out of a window early Wednesday morning at Haripad Taluk Hospital in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The incident came to light when hospital staff grew suspicious after the patient, who had sought treatment for abdominal pain, spent an unusually long time in the toilet.

The teenager had arrived at the hospital around 1 a.m. complaining of stomach pain. On examination, the doctor suspected she was pregnant, but the girl denied it. Shortly after, she went to the restroom and delivered the baby. When she returned, the doctor’s suspicion deepened, leading to the discovery of the newborn outside the window. The baby was rescued and is receiving medical care. Police have registered a case against the woman, and an investigation is underway. The incident has sparked outrage and raised questions about parental awareness and support for young women.
