A new controversy surrounding popular food blogger Mrinal, known as Hungry Mrinal, has gone viral after he was reportedly thrown out of a restaurant while filming a food review. The incident has sparked widespread debate about the ethics of food blogging and the behavior of social media influencers.
According to reports, Mrinal and his team visited a 70-year-old restaurant in Kerala to film a food review. During the visit, they recorded the food and the service, and were asked to leave within two to three minutes of arriving. The restaurant staff reportedly told them to leave, leading to a heated exchange.
The incident has divided opinions online. Some social media users have criticized Mrinal for his approach to food reviewing, accusing him of deliberately visiting restaurants to create negative content. Others have pointed out that Mrinal himself owns a hotel, questioning his motives in reviewing other establishments.
Mrinal’s own hotel has also come under scrutiny, with critics pointing out the pricing structure where items like papadum, chutney, and pickle are charged separately rather than being part of the meal. A half biryani with one piece of chicken was priced at Rs 112 before GST, and customers have complained about the itemized billing system.
The controversy highlights the growing tension between food bloggers and restaurant owners in Kerala, with many establishments becoming increasingly wary of influencers who may create negative reviews. Supporters of Mrinal argue that food reviewers provide a valuable service by holding restaurants accountable for quality and hygiene.
