The supplementary charge sheet in the death of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu has been made public, revealing crucial bank details of petrol pump owner TV Prashanthan and CCTV footage near the official residence. The court is currently considering the supplementary charge sheet following a petition filed by Naveen Babu’s family, who demanded a thorough re-investigation into several suspicious elements of the initial probe.
The family has raised serious concerns over political interference and the potential destruction of evidence. A key partnership agreement for Prashanthan’s petrol pump, previously noted in the Land Revenue Joint Commissioner’s report, was reported missing when requested under the RTI Act from the collectorate. Furthermore, Call Detail Records (CDRs) of Prashanthan are missing for a crucial nine-day period, and the police initially failed to collect the complete CDRs of accused PP Divya as directed by the court.
The credibility of the investigation has also been questioned due to the actions of former ACP Ratnakumar, who submitted the charge sheet just before retiring and immediately contested local elections as a CPM candidate. Additionally, suspicious phone calls between former Vigilance Officer Binu Mohan and PP Divya have been highlighted. The court has ordered the police to gather complete phone records, verify the gold loan details Prashanthan allegedly used for bribing from the Koyyam Service Co-operative Bank, and record statements from Vigilance officers to bring out the truth.
