A man has been arrested for allegedly cheating 42 prospective grooms by using photos downloaded from the internet to pose as a woman interested in marriage. The accused reportedly collected lakhs of rupees from the victims by promising marriage and then disappearing after receiving money.
The fraud came to light when multiple victims filed complaints, leading to an investigation. Police traced the accused and found that he had created fake profiles using attractive photos of women found online. He targeted men looking for marriage proposals and demanded money for various expenses before cutting off contact. Authorities are now probing whether more people were targeted.
