The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has launched an intense search for the security personnel of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who have gone into hiding after being accused of assaulting Youth Congress workers during the Navakerala Sadas in Alappuzha. The five accused officers, including the Chief Minister’s gunman Anil Kumar and security guards Sandeep, Vipin, Shaiju, and Arun, have switched off their mobile phones to evade arrest.
The accused reportedly fled from the premises of the Alappuzha District Court after learning that non-bailable charges had been filed against them. Earlier, some of the accused, including Sandeep and Anil, had attempted to surrender and secure bail from the magistrate court. However, the SIT countered this move by submitting a detailed progress report containing severe charges, prompting the officers to go underground on the advice of their legal counsel.
The SIT is currently conducting searches both within and outside Kerala to locate the absconding officers. Additionally, the investigation team is looking into allegations regarding the manipulation of the case diary, a development that could potentially involve high-ranking police officials, including ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar.
