Rahim Returns Home After 20 Years, Reunites with Mother

After 20 years in prison, Rahim returned to his hometown in Kerala, landing at Karipur Airport early in the morning. He was greeted by a large crowd of relatives, friends, and media personnel. In his first words, he thanked everyone who helped him, including the media, his family, and Siddique Thoovoor, expressing his gratitude to all who supported his release.

Rahim’s mother, who had waited two decades for his return, was not at the airport but at their home in Feroke. When Rahim finally reached home, the emotional reunion was captured on video, showing him embracing his mother tightly. Neighbors and relatives described how his mother had been in constant sorrow, often crying, and now her prayers were answered. The family had prepared a festive welcome, with a pandal set up outside their roadside home.

Rahim was sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia, but the sentence was commuted after the victim’s family accepted blood money, with contributions from the public and organizations like KMCC. A total of 34 crore rupees was raised, though 6-7 crore remains unpaid. Rahim’s release came just before Eid, making the occasion doubly joyful for the family.
