Individuals born under specific star signs may often find themselves facing unexplained obstacles, constant setbacks, and a sense of stagnation in their personal and professional lives. According to astrological beliefs, this is frequently attributed to the accumulation of negative energy, the ’evil eye’ (kanneeru), and the ill-wishes of those around them. These influences can block one’s natural fortune and prevent success even when opportunities arise.
The stars identified as being particularly susceptible to these negative influences include Ayilyam, Uthrittathi, Makayiram, Thiruvonam, Chothi, Thiruvathira, Thrikketta, Karthika, and Avittam. For those belonging to these signs, performing a specific ritual of ‘uzhiyuka’ (waving away negative energy) is recommended to clear these blockages. This simple, traditional remedy is intended to restore balance and protect one’s household from further misfortune.
To perform the remedy, gather a leaf (such as Erukku or Vayana), a piece of burnt wood (charcoal), a thread from the person’s clothing, a few dried chilies, rock salt, and mustard seeds. Place these items on the leaf, and while facing east, wave the bundle around the person’s face three times in a clockwise direction. During this, chant the mantra: ‘Om Raktaye Nama Om Sarvadushtanashini Mahadeviye Nama.’ After the ritual, burn the items in a fire. This practice is believed to neutralize negative energy and bring peace and prosperity back into one’s life.
