Newly elected Trikaripur MLA Sandeep Variyer, who recently defected from the BJP to the Congress, has received a severe death threat over a phone call. An unidentified caller threatened to shoot him dead, prompting the MLA to file an official complaint with the police citing a serious threat to his life.
Following the complaint, the Chandera police in Kasaragod registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation. A preliminary probe assisted by the cyber cell revealed that the threat call originated from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. However, the SIM card used for the call was found to be registered under the name of a resident of Kollam in Kerala, pointing towards a well-planned conspiracy.
Sandeep Variyer has publicly alleged a political conspiracy behind the incident, attributing the threat to anger over his departure from the BJP and accusing RSS workers of being behind it. He noted the irony of his political journey, where he now relies on the Congress and expresses gratitude to the Panakkad family for support, after having spent years within the Sangh Parivar.
