Kerala Opposition Leader V.D. Satheeshan on Tuesday dismissed as ridiculous the allegation that he called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence. Speaking at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, Satheeshan said the claim was the second joke after the LDF government came to power.
Satheeshan explained that his meeting with Modi was a courtesy call, as done by previous chief ministers including Pinarayi Vijayan. He sarcastically narrated a fictional scenario where he told Modi to raid Vijayan’s house, and Modi immediately made a phone call to order the raid. “I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,” he said, adding that such allegations are being spread by former ministers.
The ED conducted searches at Vijayan’s residence and other locations on Monday in connection with a money laundering case. Satheeshan praised Home Minister for deploying police to prevent law and order issues during the raid, despite the state government not being informed about it.
