The newly-formed UDF government in Kerala has announced a three-day menstrual leave for school girls in its first policy address. Governor Arif Mohammed Khan made the announcement during his inaugural policy speech at the state assembly.

In addition to the menstrual leave, the policy also mandates six months of maternity leave in the private sector. The government also pledged to transform higher education institutions into centers of excellence and ensure sufficient Plus One seats in all districts.
