Shashti Vratham is one of the most powerful fasting observances for mothers praying for their children’s well-being, health, and future. May 21, 2026 marks the sacred Aranya Shashti day dedicated to Lord Muruga (Subrahmanya Swami).
The Shashti tithi begins on May 21 (Thursday) at 8:27 AM and ends on May 22 (Friday) at 6:25 AM. Thursday being both Guruvaaram (Lord Guruvayurappan’s day) and Shashti (Lord Muruga’s day) doubles the spiritual merit of this observance.
On the Panchami day (May 20, Wednesday), preparations begin with a single rice meal and abstaining from meat. On Shashti day, wake up during Brahma Muhurtham, bathe, wear clean clothes, light a lamp with ghee in front of Lord Subrahmanya’s image, and offer prayers. Always begin by worshipping Lord Ganesha before offering to Lord Muruga.
May this sacred Shashti bring health, long life, success, and blessings to your children. Lord Muruga listens to every mother’s heartfelt prayer.
