Sona Car Fire Case: CCTV and Petrol Can Details Deepen Kozhikode Probe

New details in the Kozhikode car fire case have again turned attention to what happened in the hours before pregnant Sona was found dead inside a burning car. After checking CCTV footage and forensic clues, investigators are now looking closely at the movement of a woman who was seen buying petrol in a can.

The incident at Kakkaramukku in Cheruvannur shocked the region after Sona, who was pregnant, died when the car caught fire at night. Early checks reportedly ruled out an ordinary fuel leak or a short circuit as the clear cause. Forensic findings also indicated the presence of petrol on Sona’s body, which made investigators focus on how petrol entered the car.

Police then began examining petrol pumps in the area. CCTV visuals from nearby locations reportedly showed a woman walking with a can after buying petrol. At first, there was confusion over who the woman was, but later reports suggested that the person seen in the visuals was Sona herself. This has pushed the investigation further toward understanding whether the death was suicide or whether any other circumstances led to the tragedy.

The case remains emotionally painful for Sona’s family, who are still seeking clear answers. Reports say Sona had faced mental stress earlier and that her marriage had happened after disputes and family opposition. Even so, the key question for the family is simple: what exactly happened to their daughter before the fire?

For now, the investigation is centered on the CCTV trail, the petrol purchase, forensic observations, and the sequence of events before the car caught fire. Until police complete the inquiry and connect these details, the full truth behind Sona’s death remains unanswered.
