10 Things to Avoid in the South Direction of Your Home According to Vastu

According to Kerala Vastu, the south direction of a home is highly sensitive as it is ruled by Yama, the god of death. Even a small mistake in this direction can invite sorrow, financial loss, and health issues. A recent video by Manetara Man Jyothisham channel lists ten items and placements that should never be in the south or southwest corner of your house.

First, never store firewood or wood pieces in the southeast part of your property, as it can bring death-like sorrow. Second, avoid placing water tanks, taps, or pipes in the southeast (Agni corner), as fire and water conflict there. Third, do not plant Tulsi (holy basil) in the southwest corner (Kannimoola), which is the seat of Ugrashiva; Tulsi should only be grown in other directions. Fourth, ensure that your cupboard or almirah opens towards the north or east, not south, to prevent financial loss. Fifth, a tamarind tree in the southwest is inauspicious, though one in the exact south-center is auspicious. Sixth, never place idols or pictures of deities facing south; they should face east or west. Seventh, women should not cook facing south, as it can cause poverty and discord. Eighth, avoid digging pits or having septic tanks visible from south-facing windows or doors. Ninth, a well in the southwest corner is highly detrimental and should be filled. Tenth, always keep the south and southwest portions of your land higher than the north and east for prosperity.

These tips are based on traditional Vastu Shastra and are meant to correct existing doshas. Viewers are advised to inspect their homes immediately and remove any offending items to avoid ongoing negative effects.
