Vijay on Religious Freedom: I Treat My Children the Same Way

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has spoken about his approach to religious freedom, stating that he treats his children the same way his parents raised him without imposing restrictions. In a previous interview, Vijay revealed that his mother Shoba is Hindu and his father S. A. Chandrasekhar is Christian, and they never told him what to follow or where to go.

Vijay said he has visited churches, temples, and dargahs, and feels the same divine experience everywhere. During the filming of Beast, director Nelson revealed that Vijay once disappeared for 30 minutes during a shoot and later said he had gone to a church to pray for the crew.

The actor-turned-CM has faced controversies over his religious practices. He was trolled for attending an Iftar party during election campaigning. His visit to St. Anthony’s Church in Thoothukudi, where he prayed on his knees, went viral. After becoming Chief Minister, images of Vijay receiving his first communion also circulated widely on social media.

The video also featured a tour of actress Trisha Krishnan’s Chennai home, valued at approximately Rs 10 crore, decorated in earthy tones with natural flowers and traditional art.
