A tenth-grade student in Thiruvananthapuram tragically died by suicide after his parents restricted his mobile phone usage. The deceased, identified as Vaikash, a resident of Arikil in Kuttichal, was a student at Kattakkada P.R. William School. He was found hanging in his bedroom on Monday night.
The incident occurred after Vaikash returned home from school and demanded his phone, which his parents refused to hand over. Following an argument, he locked himself in his room around 9:30 PM. When he did not come out by 10:45 PM, his parents checked through the window and found him hanging. Although neighbors helped break open the door and rushed him to a private hospital in Kattakkada, he was declared dead on arrival.
According to sources, his parents had visited his school and tuition center the previous day, where teachers advised them that Vaikash needed to focus more on his studies as he was in the tenth grade. This prompted the parents to ask him to limit his phone usage, which reportedly upset him. (Note: Suicide is not a solution. If you or someone you know is struggling, please seek help.
