ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar is facing imminent disciplinary action following allegations of destroying and manipulating the case diary related to the Nava Kerala Sadas violence. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against the top cop once the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submits its detailed report.
The case pertains to the brutal assault on Youth Congress leaders by the former Chief Minister’s security personnel in Alappuzha during the Nava Kerala Yatra. The SIT investigation has revealed that ADGP Ajith Kumar, who was in charge of law and order, summoned the Alappuzha DySP and other officers to Thiruvananthapuram, forced them to alter the First Information Report (FIR), and tore up the original draft in front of them to protect the gunmen.
Five investigating officers have reportedly given statements to the SIT confirming the ADGP’s direct involvement in altering the case diary to clear the security guards of charges. The SIT is expected to submit its final report in a few days, which is highly likely to seal the fate of the controversial police officer.
