Shocking details have emerged regarding the extreme brutality of Ashkar, the accused in the Nedumangad toddler abuse case, towards his wife Amina. Amina, who is legally still his wife, is currently paralyzed and undergoing treatment at a physiotherapy center near the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College after suffering severe physical torture that left her in a coma for several months.

Amina married Ashkar in 2022 when she was 18 years old. According to her family, she was subjected to relentless physical abuse from the very next day by Ashkar, his mother, and his sister over dowry demands. The torture included brutal physical assaults, slamming her head against walls, attempts to hang her, trying to throw her into a well, and forcibly pouring poison into her mouth.

A severe assault where Ashkar repeatedly slammed Amina’s head against a wall eventually led to her slipping into a coma for 13 months. Despite the family repeatedly approaching the Nedumangad police, they allege that no serious action was taken due to Ashkar’s influence. Ashkar also reportedly assaulted Amina’s mother, Shajila Beevi, near the Medical College premises, leading to another police complaint.
