School Building Roof Collapses in Thiruvananthapuram Attakulangara

A major disaster was averted after a portion of a building at the Government Central High School in Attakulangara, Thiruvananthapuram, collapsed. No casualties or injuries were reported as the incident occurred after students and teachers had left the school premises for the day.

Nearly half of the building, which housed the Samagra Shiksha Kerala (SSK) office, collapsed when the decayed wooden beams supporting the tiled roof gave way. Local reports indicate that the building was only superficially renovated with ceiling work and fresh paint, while its structural integrity remained severely compromised.

Other sections of the building are currently in a highly precarious state and risk further collapse. Authorities have issued safety warnings for people entering the school zone. It has also been revealed that the building did not possess a valid fitness certificate.
