DGCA Bans Unauthorised Filming and Reels in Airport Security Zones

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a strict ban on recording videos, reels, and vlogs in high-security zones of airports without prior permission. This directive applies to all airports across the country, aiming to prevent sensitive security details and surveillance setups from being accidentally captured and shared on social media platforms.

Under the new regulations, unauthorized photography and videography are strictly prohibited in sensitive areas, including security checkpoints, boarding gates, runways, passenger buses, aprons, and aircraft handling zones. Security personnel have been granted full authority to confiscate mobile phones and cameras, as well as impose heavy fines on violators. For severe or repeated offenses, passengers may even face a temporary or permanent travel ban by being placed on the DGCA’s ‘No-Fly List’.

For commercial filming, such as advertisements, movies, documentaries, or professional social media content, creators must obtain official prior permission from the airport management and relevant security agencies. While casual photos in public airport areas are still permitted, passengers are strictly advised to adhere to all security guidelines to avoid legal action.
