ED Suspects Political Conspiracy in Thiruvananthapuram Attack, Moves for CBI Probe

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is preparing to demand a CBI investigation into the recent attack on its officers during a raid in Thiruvananthapuram. The raid was conducted as part of the investigation into the CMRL-Exalogic suspicious financial transactions. Central agencies suspect a deep political conspiracy behind the incident, with DYFI leader I.P. Binu and his associates being accused of orchestrating the attack to disrupt the official proceedings.

According to a report submitted by senior ED officials in Kochi to the ED Director, the attack was not a spontaneous public protest but a well-planned assault aimed at intimidating the officers. The agency is closely monitoring the social media activities of CPM leader I.P. Binu, who is accused of inciting party workers. Furthermore, the ED is seriously investigating allegations that Rajya Sabha MP A.A. Rahim attempted to influence or threaten key witnesses who were brought to witness the raid.

While the Kerala Police recorded statements from four injured ED officers, eight CRPF jawans, and two bank officials, the ED remains skeptical of the local police’s investigation, fearing it will protect the real conspirators. Although the Museum Police registered a case against 300 individuals and arrested 25 CPM-DYFI workers, the main masterminds remain at large. The Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court’s observation that the incident was an organized attack rather than a natural protest has further strengthened the ED’s demand for a CBI inquiry.
