A special investigation team is set to be formed to probe the violent attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in Thiruvananthapuram. The incident occurred during an ED raid, where CPM workers allegedly surrounded and assaulted the officials and vandalized their vehicle. The Enforcement Directorate has taken a strong stance on the matter, suspecting a pre-planned conspiracy orchestrated by senior CPM leaders who are now reportedly attempting to shield the perpetrators.
In a major setback to the accused, the Thiruvananthapuram Magistrate Court rejected the bail applications of five individuals arrested in connection with the attack. First Class Judicial Magistrate Tani Mariam Jose observed that the unprovoked attack on central agency officials was a rare and serious offense witnessed by the public through the media. The court upheld the arguments of the additional prosecutor, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining public faith in the judiciary, while the ED continues to gather evidence to expose the involvement of top political leaders.
