ED Likely to Arrest Veena Vijayan; Travel Ban Imposed

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is likely to arrest Veena Vijayan, daughter of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in the coming hours or days, according to reports from the ED office in Kochi. The agency is examining legal options for custodial interrogation or direct arrest. Meanwhile, a travel ban has been imposed on Veena, preventing her from leaving the country, amid fears that she might be taken abroad.

The ED’s investigation stems from allegations of money laundering linked to Veena’s IT company, Exalogic Solutions, which received Rs 2.78 crore from CMRL without providing any consultancy services. The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has also found that CMRL fraudulently withdrew Rs 182 crore over 15 years, with significant amounts flowing to companies controlled by the family of CMRL’s managing director. Veena’s company has since been shut down, and its registered address was listed as the AKG Centre, the CPM party headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.

Veena is expected to file an anticipatory bail petition in court soon, as the PMLA charges against her are serious. The ED is preparing to oppose any bail plea and seek custody. The CPM, which has been protesting the ED action as political vendetta, faces a dilemma if Veena is arrested, as party workers have been agitating on the streets in her support.
