A theft at a chicken shop in Thiruvalla’s Kodiyadi junction was caught on CCTV, leading to the arrest of an inter-state worker who had been employed there for only a week.
The incident took place at Idakkunnil Chicken Center, owned by George Joseph, located at Kodiyadi junction in Thiruvalla. On Monday morning, when the owner arrived to open the shop, he discovered the theft. The drawers of the desk and the freezer had been broken open, and files were strewn across the floor. One of the CCTV cameras had also been damaged.
The suspect, Chandrakant Jana, an Odisha native, had joined the establishment only a week earlier. When the owner tried to contact him by phone, it was switched off. The owner’s son then went to Jana’s residence to inquire, but Jana claimed he knew nothing about the incident.
However, when Jana later arrived at the shop and the CCTV footage was reviewed, it became clear that he was the perpetrator. Police from the Pulikkezhu station arrived at the scene on a complaint from the owner and arrested the accused. Only a small amount of cash is reported to have been stolen.
