In a brave act, a ten-year-old girl named Fathima Sehra saved a two-and-a-half-year-old boy from drowning in a reservoir at Kappuchira in Kothamangalam. The toddler, who had come from Malappuram, accidentally slipped into the deep water unnoticed until Fathima spotted him and jumped in to rescue him.
Fathima was riding her bicycle nearby when she was alerted to a hand visible in the water. Acting quickly, she jumped into the reservoir, pulled the unconscious child out, and patted his back to drain the swallowed water. The child vomited the water and slowly regained consciousness.
Fathima, who has been trained in swimming since the age of four, was able to act courageously due to her familiarity with the reservoir. Local residents, family members, and the ward member have praised her heroic act, honoring her with trophies and appreciation for saving a young life.
