Four Mandatory Aadhaar Card Updates You Need to Complete Immediately

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) requires Aadhaar cardholders to complete several mandatory updates to keep their identity profiles active and secure. These updates are especially critical for individuals who received their Aadhaar cards over ten years ago, as well as students who have recently completed their SSLC or Plus Two examinations.

If your Aadhaar card was issued more than ten years ago, you must perform a mandatory document update. This can be done for free online via the official portal if your mobile number is linked, or at an Akshaya or Aadhaar enrollment center for a fee of ₹75. Additionally, linking an active mobile number to your Aadhaar is crucial for receiving OTPs required for government benefits and insurance services, which also costs ₹75 at authorized centers.

Cardholders should immediately verify that their name, date of birth, gender, and address are correct. Correcting date of birth errors has become stricter, now accepting only passports, birth certificates, or SSLC certificates. Furthermore, children who have reached the ages of 5 and 15 must undergo mandatory biometric updates. Students who have finished their SSLC or Plus Two exams should visit an Akshaya or Aadhaar center to complete their age-15 biometric update to prevent their Aadhaar from being deactivated.
