Former Minister Ganesh Kumar Faces Jail After Two Crucial Statements in Solar Case

Former Kerala Minister K B Ganesh Kumar is facing serious legal trouble after two crucial statements emerged in the ongoing Solar case proceedings. The statements, submitted before the Kottarakkara First Class Magistrate Court, implicate the former minister in a conspiracy to falsely implicate late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

The first statement comes from Thrissur ASP K A Mohammed Nisar, who was the Sub Inspector at Ernakulam Town North station when the original case was registered in 2013. According to his statement, the letter written by the accused in the Solar case while in jail did not contain the name of Oommen Chandy or any Congress leaders. The letter only mentioned Biju Radhakrishnan and Shalu Menon as the accused, with the complaint being about extortion threats. Nisar stated that Oommen Chandy’s name was never present anywhere in the case, and it appeared to have been inserted as part of a larger conspiracy.

The second statement, from K P C C member C R Najeeb, is even more damaging. Najeeb stated that in May 2015, Ganesh Kumar called him and the survivor to the Pathanapuram party office. The former minister allegedly told the survivor that she must implicate Oommen Chandy in the Solar case to help him get back into the cabinet. Ganesh Kumar reportedly said that if Oommen Chandy was not included in the case, his plan to return to the ministry would not succeed.

Based on these statements, the trial against Ganesh Kumar is progressing. Legal observers suggest that these two statements together could be sufficient to send the former minister to prison. The statements also confirm what many had suspected all along - that the allegations against Oommen Chandy in the Solar case were fabricated as part of a political conspiracy.
