A human skull and skeletal remains were found packed in a sack in the Pampa River near the Kallissery railway bridge in Chengannur, Alappuzha. The shocking discovery was made on yesterday afternoon by local anglers whose fishing hook got caught in the submerged sack.

Upon pulling the sack ashore and opening it, the anglers discovered a human skull, bones, pieces of cloth, and various pooja materials. They immediately alerted the Chengannur police, who arrived at the scene, completed the inquest procedures, and took the remains into custody.

The preliminary suspicion of the police is that these remains could be from a cremated body, immersed in the river along with ritual items as part of post-death ceremonies. However, to rule out any foul play, the police are sending the remains to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram for detailed scientific analysis.
