A Simple Ritual to Boost Your Child’s Academic Success on June 1

As schools reopen on June 1 for a new academic year, parents can perform a simple ritual to help their children excel in studies and gain confidence. The practice involves using a coin and fire (such as a camphor flame or sandalwood stick) to activate the child’s third eye (ajna chakra), channeling positive energy and parental blessings.

The ritual has three steps. First, the mother places a coin on the child’s forehead between the eyebrows (the ajna chakra point) while praying for intelligence and memory. Second, she rotates the coin clockwise and then counterclockwise around the child’s head three times each to remove negative energies. The coin is then kept safely and later offered at a temple. Third, she waves a lit camphor or sandalwood stick in front of the child’s face three times each direction to dispel ignorance and fear. After the ritual, the child touches the parents’ feet for blessings, and the mother applies a tilak (sandalwood, kumkum, or vibhuti) on the forehead.

This practice, common in North India, is based on the belief that a child’s success depends not only on hard work but also on positive energy and parental blessings. By activating the third eye, the ritual helps the child focus better, gain teachers’ and peers’ love, and achieve academic excellence throughout the year.
