Kannur Groom Dies on Wedding Day

A 28-year-old groom, Shebin from Eechoor Mavilachal Narayaneeyam in Kannur, was found dead in his bathroom on his wedding day, shocking the entire community. The incident came to light when relatives went to call him for a photoshoot at a nearby temple in the morning.

The house was filled with festive celebrations until midnight, with relatives and locals gathering for a grand wedding reception. Similarly, the bride’s house was also fully prepared for the event. However, when Shebin did not respond to repeated calls and phone rings, relatives broke open the door to find him hanging in the bathroom.

According to relatives, Shebin received a phone call late at night after all the guests had left, and the call was from the bride-to-be. He was seen talking on the phone while heading to his room, after which he locked himself inside. He was found dead the next morning.

The most tragic aspect is that no one—neither close friends nor relatives—has any idea what led to this extreme step. Shebin was an SSB Border Police officer posted in Jammu and Kashmir. The Chakkara-kkal police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation. The probe is primarily focused on Shebin’s mobile phone records.

In the coming days, police will record detailed statements from relatives and the bride-to-be to uncover what drove the young officer to take his own life on what was supposed to be the happiest day of his life. Shebin was the son of Bharatan of Perutheri and Sheeba, an Anganwadi worker of Kollachanchira. His sister Abhisha is a nurse at Sri Chand Hospital in Kannur.
