Two Kottayam Youths Go Missing in Sea at Kasaragod Beach; MDMA Packet Found Nearby

Two 20-year-old youths from Kottayam went missing after being swept away by strong waves while bathing at Kallingal beach in Pallikkara, Kasaragod. The missing individuals have been identified as Appu Antony and Ankit Appootty Abraham, who were part of a four-member group visiting the beach. An active search operation is currently underway involving the Coast Guard, Coastal Police, and local fishermen to locate them.

According to reports, the group of four friends arrived at the beach around 5:30 PM. Two of them work at the Atlanta Bar in Kottayam, and the others are their friends. One of the missing youths had previously worked in the area and suggested the spot. Upon arrival, one friend slept on the shore while the other three danced to music. Eventually, Appu and Ankit entered the water, where they were suddenly dragged away by a powerful wave, while the other two remained safe.

In a crucial development, police reportedly recovered a packet containing the synthetic drug MDMA near the accident site, though official confirmation regarding its ownership is pending. The Bekal and Coastal Police are investigating whether the youths were under the influence of drugs. Meanwhile, authorities have alerted coastal residents in Kanhangad, Nileshwaram, and Thaikadappuram to remain vigilant, as the missing youths might have drifted towards those areas.
