The Kerala government has tabled a comprehensive White Paper on the state’s fiscal health in the Legislative Assembly, aiming to present a transparent status report of the economy to the public, legislators, and administrators. Prepared under the leadership of the Finance Department with Cabinet approval, the document is intended to serve as a foundational guide for building the future of Kerala.
Addressing criticisms regarding the procedure, the government clarified that the document contains no confidential information and is entirely based on public domain data. Renowned experts, including former Union Cabinet Secretary and State Planning Board Vice Chairman K. M. Chandrasekhar, economist Dr. D. Narayana, and CDS Chairman Dr. Veeramani, contributed to its preparation, alongside inputs from the Gulati Institute. The government emphasized that the report is a professional status report rather than a political document, designed to dispel unfounded myths about the state’s economy.
