A 68-year-old woman from Aranmula has lodged a medical negligence complaint against Kozhencherry District Hospital, alleging that a needle broke and remained inside her body after an injection.
Vatsala, the complainant, said she was admitted to the hospital for treatment and received an injection during which the needle fractured and stayed lodged in her body for nearly a year. She initially thought it was a hardened lump of medicine, but an X-ray later revealed the presence of a needle. Hospital authorities performed surgery to remove part of it, but some portion remains inside. She continues to suffer from pain and has demanded that the remaining fragment be removed.
