Former Minister KT Jaleel Officially Joins CPIM

Former minister and four-time Tavannur MLA KT Jaleel has officially taken membership in the CPI(M). Announcing his decision through a Facebook post, Jaleel stated that he is no longer just a fellow traveler of the party but an official member, marking a significant transition in his political journey.

Jaleel, who has maintained a close relationship with the CPI(M) since 2006, expressed his deep gratitude to the party for its continuous support, which enabled him to serve as an MLA four times and as a minister for five years. He highlighted his participation in state-level marches led by party secretaries Pinarayi Vijayan and MV Govindan as a testament to the trust the party placed in him.

Addressing the timing of his decision, Jaleel pointed out that while many opportunistically switch to parties in power, he chose to officially join the CPI(M) now when the party is facing challenges and intense criticism. He emphasized that strengthening the Left is crucial to counter communal and fascist forces, protect minorities, and prevent a political decline in Kerala similar to what occurred in West Bengal. He also dismissed propaganda that religious believers cannot be communists, stating that he and his wife joined the party to stand against communalism and exploitative politics.
