Naushad Areacode, a prominent journalist and writer from Kerala, has shared his extraordinary journey of traveling to 54 countries over the past twenty-five years. Starting his travels decades ago when modern conveniences like mobile phones and GPS did not exist, Naushad has documented his diverse cultural experiences in several books, offering deep insights into global lifestyles. He views travel not merely as entertainment, but as an invaluable investment in knowledge and life experiences.
Reflecting on his journeys, Naushad noted that his first international trip was to Nepal, followed by a highly inspiring visit to China. He was deeply impressed by the work ethic and social security provided to senior citizens in China and Norway, which he considers key to their societal happiness. He also highlighted the ease of traveling across European nations under the Schengen visa system, contrasting it with the rigorous border checks often encountered while traveling within Asian countries like Nepal and Bhutan.
Beyond the scenic views, Naushad’s journeys have also seen grave challenges. During a Himalayan trekking expedition in 2000, a sudden blizzard claimed the lives of two of his female trekking companions, an incident that deeply affected him and cut the trip short. Despite such hardships, his passion remains undeterred as he prepares for his next major expeditions to Japan, South Korea, and Central Asia, alongside ongoing local monsoon explorations with his long-standing travel group.
