The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at multiple locations linked to former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter Veena Vijayan on Wednesday, in connection with the CMRL monthly deposit case. The searches covered ten premises, including Vijayan’s rented residence in Thiruvananthapuram, his home in Kannur, and offices of CMRL, a private company involved in the case.
The ED action follows a Kerala High Court order allowing the investigation to continue. The case involves allegations that CMRL, a company dealing in black sand, paid ₹1.75 crore to Veena Vijayan’s company over three years without receiving any services. The ED had earlier recorded Veena’s statement. CPM leader M.A. Baby termed the raids political vendetta, asserting that the party and its leaders would not be intimidated. The searches are part of a broader probe into financial irregularities linked to the Vijayan family.
