A tragic incident from Kannur has left everyone in shock. Shabin, a young man who had cleared the Kerala PSC exam in his first attempt and secured a job in the police department, ended his life on his wedding night — just hours before he was supposed to tie the thaali.
Shabin had always dreamt of serving the nation as an army soldier. Though he failed in his first attempt, he achieved his dream in the second. After serving for three to four years, he was about to get married. But what was meant to be the happiest day of his life turned into a nightmare.
According to a viral Facebook post by a user named Bindu S, the bride had a tendency to argue over small matters. This reportedly made Shabin deeply uncomfortable — something he had shared with his friends and parents. On the wedding day, the bride insisted on having a yellow-themed wedding at her home. Due to the crowd and commotion at the groom’s house, Shabin could not attend a ceremony at the bride’s place. This angered the bride, who reportedly threatened not to enter the thaali mandapam.
Later that night, after the crowd had thinned, the bride called Shabin again. They spoke, and Shabin went to his bedroom. What was said during that conversation remains unknown, but it is believed that words were exchanged that deeply hurt him. Perhaps in that moment of despair, he thought of ending his life. He may have even hinted at it during the call.
In the early hours of the wedding day, two or three people from the bride’s family reportedly went to the groom’s house uninvited, asking for updates — suggesting they may have sensed something was wrong.
Shabin, a healthy young man with so many dreams, chose death over his wedding. The entire community is shaken, asking the same painful question: Why did you do this, son?
The Facebook post by Bindu S has gone viral, with thousands discussing the incident. Many express doubt and suspicion, unsure whose side to take. The truth, as always, remains known only to Shabin and the bride.
