Union Minister Suresh Gopi has welcomed the Priyadarshini free travel scheme, describing it as an excellent initiative that brings new hope and dreams to women. He suggested that if financially stable women voluntarily opt out of the free travel benefit, the scheme will become a massive success and reach those who genuinely need it.
Drawing a parallel to the Prime Minister’s revolutionary “Give It Up” campaign for LPG cylinders, Suresh Gopi urged well-to-do women to pay for their tickets rather than claiming the free benefit. He noted that such a benevolent gesture from the public would be the finest tribute to the planners and the government behind the initiative. He also highlighted how the scheme has already brought immense joy to women, particularly homemakers who previously struggled to afford travel expenses.
Commenting on the state of KSRTC, the Union Minister emphasized the need for a strong financial foundation and positive administrative reforms. He praised the planning expertise of figures like C.P. John and urged both the ruling government and the opposition to work constructively beyond trade union politics. He called on the opposition to act as a corrective force that supports good initiatives for the overall welfare of the state.
