The Union Cabinet is gearing up for a major reshuffle expected by the middle of this month, sparking intense discussions about Kerala’s representation in the central government. With Minister of State George Kurian’s Rajya Sabha term nearing its end, speculation is rife on whether Kerala will secure an additional ministerial berth or who will replace him in the upcoming restructuring.
Several prominent names from Kerala BJP are currently being considered for key roles. C. Sadanandan Master, backed by the RSS and often projected as a face against political violence in Kannur, is among the top contenders. Other potential candidates include former state president K. Surendran, who could be brought in via the Rajya Sabha route, and young leaders like Anoop Antony and Anil Antony, both of whom could help the BJP strengthen its ties with the Christian community in the state.
Beyond Kerala, the reshuffle is expected to bring widespread changes, including adjustments to at least five ministerial positions—comprising two Union Ministers and three Ministers of State. The BJP has already initiated organizational changes, appointing former ministers like Pankaj Chaudhary and Harsh Malhotra to state party leadership roles. Furthermore, NDA allies such as TDP, JD(U), NCP, and RLM are expected to receive increased representation, with some potentially securing cabinet-rank portfolios.
