V Muraleedharan Criticized by Sivankutty Over Sweets Distribution at Kattela School

A major controversy has erupted in Kerala following the sweets distribution by BJP leader V. Muraleedharan during the school reopening ceremony at Kattela Ambedkar Memorial Tribal Residential School. Former Education Minister V. Sivankutty strongly criticized Muraleedharan, accusing him of behaving like a feudal lord by scattering sweets on the desks instead of handing them directly to the children.

The incident, which was captured on video, shows Muraleedharan pouring sweets from a large packet onto the desks where the children, predominantly from Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, were seated. Social media users and political figures have expressed outrage, questioning why the sweets could not be handed over affectionately to the children’s hands.

In a social media post, Sivankutty stated that this behavior is a disgrace to Kerala’s progressive culture. He compared the act to feudal landlords distributing alms to laborers and demanded an apology from the leader, adding that such discriminatory behavior towards children from marginalized communities should not be tolerated.
